We’re Hiring: Young Person’s Mentor & SEND Tutor

AM Support is a national award-winning, small, independent company dedicated to supporting children and young people aged 5–17 with additional needs.

We work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to provide individualised 1:1 support that creates meaningful, lasting change.

Due to continued growth, we are expanding our team and are looking for compassionate, flexible, and committed Mentors and SEND Tutors to join us.


🔹 SEND Tutor

As a SEND Tutor, you will:

  • Deliver in-person tuition to children and young people with SEMH and SEND needs, including MLD, SLD, PMLD, and other additional educational needs
  • Support pupils from KS1–KS5 (depending on experience)
  • Plan and deliver flexible, trauma-informed, bespoke lessons based on individual interests
  • Work with referrals from local authorities and schools
  • Provide tuition in the home or community


🔹 Mentor

As a Mentor, support may take place in the home, community, or educational setting and can include:

  • Life and social skills development
  • Independent travel training
  • Communication skills
  • Classroom and behaviour support
  • Health and fitness
  • Building self-confidence
  • Hazard awareness and staying safe
  • Transition into new schools or settings
  • Mental and emotional health mentoring
  • Outdoor education

  • Support is referral-based
  • Flexible days and times to suit your availability
  • Once agreed, consistency is essential to build trust and achieve positive outcomes


👤 About You

You are:

  • Kind, patient, and understanding
  • Flexible and reliable
  • Experienced in supporting children and young people with additional needs, including trauma or complex needs
  • Passionate about building positive, trusting relationships


✅ Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with vulnerable children and young people
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (references required)
  • Full UK driving licence and access to your own car (with business insurance)
  • Willingness to complete initial training in Safeguarding, First Aid, and Health & Safety (provided by us)
